A Deeper Look at Hypnotic Gastric Banding

When ayou are under hypnosis, your attention is highly focused and you are more responsive to suggestions.  This can include suggestions that involve changing your behavior or beliefs.

What is Hypnotic Gastric Banding?

Surgical gastric banding is the procedure where a band is inserted around your stomach and it is adjusted to reduce the size of your stomach.  Since your stomach is much smaller, the amount of food you can consume is also much smaller.

Hypnotic gastric banding tricks your brain into thinking that you have had the surgery. The result is less, without ever having to have the actual surgery.

This procedure is more popular in the European countries and is just becoming popular in the United States.

Hypnosis

Hypnosis works by communicating to your subconscious mind.

  • The subconscious mind is responsible for habits and emotions of a person
  • Most experts believe that the subconscious mind is far more powerful than the conscious mind
  • Hypnosis works on the belief that the subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between reality and fiction
  • Your subconscious mind will believe what you tell it or choose to believe

The main strategy involved in this weight loss method is to influence your subconscious mind into believing that you have had surgery.  That subconscious belief will make you eat smaller portions.

How Does it Work?

Most programs require sessions for 4 to 8 weeks. Most programs offer sessions tailored to meet your needs.

These private sessions with the hypnotist will help clear away the myths associated with hypnosis and help reprogram your mind.   Your change in beliefs and behavior should last a lifetime.

What Are the Benefits?

The hypnosis gastric band does not require you to take any special supplements or medications. This is no diet program to follow and you can eat whatever you want to.

The behavior changes are permanent and you can have reinforcement of the new behaviors as often as you need it using a CD or mp3 player. This method is more cost effective and less risky compared to actual gastric band surgery.

What Are the Cons?

This procedure is not for aggressive or fast weight loss.  Your weight loss will be much slower than it is for those people who actually have surgery.

It is alternate medicine and many start with the belief that they don’t believe it will work.  Hypnosis is generally much more successful when people believe that it will work for them.

Will it Work For Me?

Just like any other weight loss approach, hypnotic banding also requires commitment and a willingness to make changes.

Hypnosis is a tool to achieve the desired outcome. You cannot rely on hypnosis alone to get to your weight loss goals. You should also consider the unhealthy behaviors that led to your weight gain in the first place.

The hypnotic band treatment will make you eat smaller portions.  However, you are still deciding what kind of food you will eat.  It also does not “fix” your problems. You have to actively participate and be willing to change your lifestyle.

I question if hynotic gastic procedure can prodcue long lasting results.  If a person is allowed to eat whatever they want, but just in a smaller amount, I would think at some point cravings will win out.  As long as a person continues to consume high fructose corn syrup, bad fats, etc. then the person will crave those foods.  To satisy the craving, it usually means eating more than one serving.  How come healthy eating isn’t part of this hypnotic process?

I think it’s an interesting concept and if it works think of all the money that a person would save.  I would imagine it takes a lot of willpower and determination to stick with it.

Hypnosis has helped a lot of people change behaviors that they have struggled with for many years.  I think if a person believes in it and puts forth the effort to exercise and make wise eating choices, then it could certainly work!

Wow!  This sounds amazing!  I know that if the mind here’s something over and over at some point it believes it to be true.  So, I think that this could really work!
