I have to admit that I have mixed feelings about the show Biggest Losers.  Although the contestants do an awesome job and lose a lot of weight, their workout schedule isn’t practical for so many people.

Who do you know that has 4 or 5 hours a day to work out? 

However, I do believe that Bob Harper has a heart of gold and truly wants to see all of us have success with losing weight.  Thus, I was excited to read his new book The Skinny Rules:  The Simple, Nonnegotiable Principles for Getting to THIN

The Skinny Rules is a very practical book, filled with great information.  After a brief introduction, Bob jumps right into his 20 Skinny Rules.  Many of these rules were ones that I was familiar with, such as Rule #1 Drink a large glass of water before every meal

Yet, there were rules that maybe I was familiar with and perhaps had forgotten about or wasn’t convinced that they really were that important.  Bob’s Rule #7 No carbs after lunch is a good example.  I’ve heard this and actually started to follow this rule about a month ago.  Wow!  What a difference!!!

After reading through the skinny rules, Bob provides actual menus for a month and some awesome recipes.  If you’re just starting out with your weight loss journey, this book will be an excellent tool!  Bob addresses so many questions/fears that people have and puts the reader to ease. 

If you don’t know how to cook because you’ve spent the past few years doing the fast food drive-thru thing or take-outs, then be assured that Bob’s recipes are simple and easy to follow.  He even gives a recipe for making a standard salad.  For those of you who are doing well with your weight loss, The Skinny Rules will benefit you as well.  You’re sure to gleam useful tidbits from the book.

I definitely recommend The Skinny Rules:  The Simple, Nonnegotiable Principles for Getting to THIN.  I give it a 4 out of 5 fruit smoothie rank!
