There are two workouts on this DVD and each one is 30 minutes each.
- The first is the beginner level and you are supposed to stick with that for 3 weeks. You may feel like you are ready for the 2nd before that 3 weeks is up but probably not, because this workout is not for wussies.
- The 2nd DVD is the advanced workout and will help you to shed even more fat off the midsection to reveal a beautiful set of abs. The intensity is picked up and more difficult abdominal exercises are brought in.
You will be spending some time on the floor with traditional abdominal exercises but not the boring crunches. The focus is on more intense and more effective moves like planks and their variations.

You will also be jumping off the floor with high knees, jumps and others plyometrics. If you have bad joints, Jillian also gives you less jolting options.
Jillian also brings in some strength exercises in her circuits so you will need a set of dumbbells, probably 10 lbs or less.
In this DVD, you never stop moving. This is part of the secret that keeps the calories burning and the fat melting off. Expect to sweat and keep a towel and water bottle nearby. Many people think that an ab DVD will be strictly ab workouts but Jillian is too smart for that.
She knows that part of getting great abs is to burn fat and get lean. Because of that, there is a lot of cardio in this program too. Your abs will get a great workout, but so will your shoulders, arms and back.

The Insanity DVD Program
Each workout is under an hour long (except one that functions as a test) and according to BeachBody can burn up to 1,000 calories! You gotta love those numbers!
The thing that I like best about this program is that you don’t need any special equipment for these workouts, just you! No weights, no bands, no gadgets, and that keeps it really simple.
Who wants to be messing with equipment when they are in the middle of a good workout?
The program comes with 10 workout DVDs. To keep you from getting confused there is a calendar to follow on which day to do which workout.
It also comes with a meal plan designed to help your body to stay energetic and ready for the workouts to come.
Speaking of energetic, Shaun T will keep you motivated during this insane workout! He will push you until you can’t go any more and that is when you will see results.
There is a little of everything in the workout program; lots of cardio, plyometrics, abdominal work, resistance, bodyweight exercises, and some stretching. I like the fact that you can keep track of your progression through the fit tests on the DVDs so you really know where you stand and what you need to work on.
The Insanity DVD Price
As far as the price goes, this is obviously much more expensive than the average workout DVD but keep in mind that you are getting 10 DVDs that are used for two whole months. If you bought a workout DVD anywhere else and used only that one DVD for two whole months, I can guarantee you will not see the same results.
So the program costs a little over $100 once you pay shipping and tax. You have the option of paying in three monthly installments, as well.
Insanity DVD Review
These workouts are the kind that will make you feel like you are a superstar when you actually are able to complete a whole workout. Ever heard of runner’s high? That is what you will be feeling that after many of these workouts.
However, you have to keep in mind that you may not be able to complete an entire workout in the beginning.
This is the only complaint that I have about the Insanity DVD, there are no variations to the workouts for beginners. The reason for this is that the Insanity DVD program is designed for people who are serious about their fitness levels.
The result of this Insanity DVD review is that it’s a great program for anyone who has been working out, but has reached a plateau in their fitness. The Insanity DVD will give you a much more challenging workout that will allow you to really super charge your fitness level.

This DVD is a programmable video. This means you can customize your daily workout segments. Some of the options you have are:

- The wedding workout has some great upbeat music that will keep you motivated.
- Along with this video, you will need to have either a 2lb dumbbell or a 5lb dumbbell, depending on how hard of a workout you want. If you have a strapless dress, I would recommend using the heavier weight. This is a quick way of getting your shoulders and arms looking nice and ripped for your special day.
- The menu also has two great premixed workouts, either choose a shorter 17 minute one or go for the 40 minute alternate workout.
- I really thought the Bonus feature segments were fun! With one called “Love your Honeymoon” will teach you some sexy and fun moves that you never knew you could do! If you are like me, and have a hard time walking in heels, the “Walk Gracefully” segment will be a blessing for your big day by teaching you some wonderful posture tips.
